VSJP was founded in 1983 by Siegfried Küblböck as a sextett, but grew into a eleven-people-ensemble up to now. During the recent years more and more jazz-loving musicians from the Wiener Symphoniker joined the ensemble, as they all like to express their passion for Jazz in that way.
Famous jazz compositions example given by Duke Ellington, Thelonius Monk, Charlie Parker or Horace Silver are interpreted by the musicians with a lot of enthusiasm and ease and therefore fascinate the audience no matter which age they are.
The members of the Vienna Symphony Jazz Project are also open for cooperations with musicians of other artistic styles. So for example for one of their last works „Pictures at an exhibition“ they worked together with a female artist who pictured all of Mussorgsky’s composition.
