Martina Dorak was born and raised in Vienna. She studied voice at the Academy of Music in Vienna with professor Gerhard Kahry, classical dance at the Vienna State Opera and drama at the conservatory of the City of Vienna. She obtained her first engagements at productions at the Theatre an der Wien where she played „Jemima“ in the premiere of „Cats“ and „Cosette“ in „Les Miserables“.
In 1992 Martina Dorak joined the ensemble of the Vienna Volksopera. There is hardly any soubrette part that is not found in her repertory. Most notable among her numerous successes are „Valencienne“ in „Merry Widow“, “Adele“ in „The Bat“, “Cagliari“ in „Vienna Blood“, “Eliza“ in „My fair Lady“, “Maria“ in „West Side Story“ as well as opera productions e.g. „Ännchen“- Der Freischütz, „Flora“ – „LaTraviata“, „Frasquita“ – „Carmen“. Moreover, Martina Dorak is an experienced opera and operetta singer. She gave her debut as Hanna Glawari in Merry Widow in Japan. At the summer festival in Kufstein (Austria) she played „Fedora Palinska“ in „The Circus Prinzess“ and at the Volksopera she had her debut as „Silva Varescu“ in Die Csardasfürstin.
A great number of guest performances and concerts have taken Martina Dorak almoust around the world. She performed in Honkong, Johannesburg, Peking, London, Munich, Stuttgart, St.Petersburg and Moskau presenting a Lehar-Strauß and Kalman programm and gave a guest perfomance at the Zurich Opera House. Moreover, her face is familiar to a wider audience because of her many television appearances in Germany and Austria. She gave her debut as „Rosalinde“ in „The Bat“ and played in the „White horse“ „The hostess“ as well as „The Countess“ in „Vienna Blood“.
